Employee - Human or Machine ?

Vikas has rightly pointed out how the handbook of policies given to employees in an organization more or less contains the clauses present in the “LOVE CONTRACT”. In fact organizations conduct online examination annually on the policies, to make sure that employees are aware of these policies. In the current case at hand the HR manager is dealing on individual basis, visualizing it in broader view, it’s just not possible to keep policing all the people in an organization.

Apart from this it would be pretty embarrassing for the individuals who sign on such a contract, as there is always a chance that fellow employees might come to know about the contract and when issues relating to an individual’s personal feelings (Ex. current issue at hand) become a talking point, the relationship of the individual with his/her peers might not be the same again. Carrying this argument further in a conservative society like India, where some parents might check the credentials of the in-laws before marriage, its might not be a great idea on the part of Pritam and Jagruti to sign such as agreement. The employer should think about consequence such as these before framing such agreements.

The abuse of contractual laws by the employer by making contracts such as the “LOVE CONTRACT” can be compared to the abuse of law, arising out of frivolous lawsuit where people tend to sue anything and everything, that seems trivial and lacks merit. Looking at the trend, it’s just going to get dirtier as time passes.
