How can we define a love contract ?
Number of questions do arise from this love contract relationship ? what are the governing conditions for a romantic relationship ? As Rajat said , under what context a love contract warrants and will necessitate the consistent performance of the employees .. In a age where competitive self management seems to be a major reason for increased working hours in a knowledge industry and the company in question , does this contract necessarily translate into increased performance or the required non interference of personal relationship. What will be implications on the employee morale and the chemistry of bonding among the employees if the boundary of relationship and extent of required intimacy is defined by the employer ? Usually companies try to foster loyalty and unity among employees for ex.. in TCS induction programme , the word " Tata family" is often used to bring a sense of bonding among the employees ,. Fostering unity and bringing employees under one umbrella in the name of family helps to produce a great team work , accountability , sharing and learning mentality and care for team members. When the conditions for a romantic relationship is crudely defined by the employer ,even a care shown by a team member towards another during the work can be construed as a romantic relationship by the employer , which warrants them to enter into a contract .Conditions of intimacy or bonding between employees can be subjective. Pritam and Jagruti can also argue that they are like close siblings ( brother and sister ) and one cannot argue that "sweet nothings" are only between two romantically linked people. One side , I see this move as the company's smart step to protect its interests , on other side , I simply see that the company is missing the woods for the trees. How will the company communicate its objective of encouraging team spirit among the employees at the same time keeping this love contract in question ?this will have a bearing on its recruitment policy , its HR policy , induction and the culture of the organisation. Should the company reveal this love contract clause in its offer letter or in the intent of offer ?I feel that in the case of pritam and jagruti , the company may score a shot , but in larger interests and long run , maybe the company is inheriting a serious flaw in its employment relationship.
