A common incident and views on that

Love contract is used by the organisation to control the work place romances. Work place romances is quite common now-a-days which have both positive as well as negative effects for the organisation and even the employees. I would like to share one incident which I have seen when I was working for an international outbound call centre as a part-time. May be that incident can give a different views on this topic. As everybody knows that call centre industry is the industry of youth, so these kinds of incidents are not uncommon over there. I have some friends who have just joined that industry so that they can have contacts with some girls.

To get influenced by the charm of your colleague, is common for even more mature generation, so what to say about the young hearts working in this industry. As a part of that industry, I have analysed some good as well as some bad points for this work place romance. I have put the different points in subsequent headings. But these points can be specific to the particular kind of industry I am talking about.

Positives for the firm: When a boy and girl have any such kind of attraction, the chances to leave the organisation become very less. And with the kind of industry where attrition rate is very high, this works is a very favourable way for the organisation. Moreover I have even seen that both of them working hard so that they remain in the list of performing employees and are not terminated from the organisation. Even the boy or girl they goes extra distance to improve the performance of other if one is falling short. But I admit that, this may not be the case in other industries where both have different types of expertise.

Negatives for the firm: If both are in same team, sometimes the pair they are not interested in team, as if the team doesn’t exist. What matters to them is the performance of each other not of the whole team. They spent the working time in exchanging sms, email, glances etc which can be spent to do productive things for the organisation.

Though work place romance is not uncommon these days, but there should lie a fine gap between the professional and personal relationship. Choosing a partner of one’s will is alright only if they maintain a decent line between their personal and professional relationships which become quite difficult at times. So even if one is choosing a partner at his or her place it should be alright with organisation also, only time there a need to intervene when they bring their personal relationship inside the organisation.
